For an individual who desires to maintain an atmosphere that is completely dedicated to their practice of Christian Science, being in an environment where the Christian Science nurses are receptive to the same inspiration has a beneficial and calming effect, which aids in healing. In a Christian Science nursing facility, everyone is working from the basis of trust in the healing power of Christian Science.

Jesus instructed his students to be wise and watchful as well as compassionate. Christian Science nurses maintain that same loving compassion, especially when attending to others.
“Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” (p. 395), states that “The nurse should be cheerful, orderly, punctual, patient, full of faith,—receptive to Truth and Love” Article VIII, Section 31, of the Manual amplifies these requirements of character by the following statement: “A member of The Mother Church who represents himself or herself as a Christian Science nurse shall be one who has a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, who thoroughly understands the practical wisdom necessary in a sick room, and who can take proper care of the sick.”
